Good Things Come In Round Packages!
Surrounded by only the sounds of the forest, with nothing on your agenda but a glass of wine and maybe a hike; that’s what glamorous camping, or “glamping” at the Lodge feels like. Yes, you heard right, the Lodge has eight yurts on our grounds and has brought“glamping” to the East Coast!
While there are other yurts that dot the land east of the Mississippi, none of them are quite like ours. Each of the eight, 30-ft diameter, yurts has a private deck, sitting room, king-sized bed with luxury linens, comforters made of synthetic down (recycled plastic bottles), a fully-plumbed private bath with an extra-large shower and double sinks. The beverage center and a breakfast nook are for partaking of our famous, daily deliveries of muffins and orange juice.
So, what IS a yurt? Basically, it's a nomadic structure traditionally used in the steppes of Mongolia, consisting of a round movable tent with a bent-frame roof. While ours are similarly styled, these are permanent structures with a wood frame lattice surrounded by a double-layer insulated canvas outer covering. The central domed skylight will inspire you to rise early, while the gas-log fireplaces and radiant floor heat from Warmboard make them a cozy retreat year-round.
