Jan Russell
Before moving to Western Maryland and beginning her dream of the Lodge, Jan was in charge of quality control for hotels and restaurants including St. Andrew’s Old Course Hotel, The Inn of the Ansazi, and Mansion on Turtle Creek. Jan and Mike met in 1989 during a conference in Chicago. In the early 1990s, Jan moved to Hagerstown and began to fulfill her dream of building a retreat destination focused on nature.
Mike Dreisbach
Originally from Hagerstown, MD, Mike worked as an international labor mediator and business consultant. An avid hunter, Mike also guided hunts throughout the United States, including at Ted Turner’s Vermejo Park Ranch. Before starting the Lodge, he and Jan had the Nature of Business, a business consulting firm. Being from Western Maryland, Mike looked to Garrett County when he and Jan had the dream to start their Lodge.
Emily Newman-Edwards
Emily was first introduced to the Lodge in 2008 as a server. She came back full-time in 2010 as guest services and marketing and has worked with Savage River Lodge ever since.
Martin Galloway
Martin began his culinary career at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, WV and rose through the ranks from dishwasher to Certified Executive Chef. Working for SRL combines two of Martin's passions: he enjoys creating unique dishes highlighting locally sourced foods or wild game, and when he's not in the kitchen he spends his time enjoying nature.
Elizabeth Williams
Elizabeth has coordinated the Lodge’s marketing efforts from social media to print since June 2015.
Koko & Karma
Though they’re both gone we will miss them terribly. Koko & Karma loved taking long naps out in the sun, sniffing out french fries, and keeping their parents company during the workday.
