HikingThe Lodge is situated on 43 acres of private property, nestled in the middle of the Mt. Aetna Tract of the Savage River State Forest. Through a cooperative agreement with the State of Maryland, the Lodge maintains over 13 miles of trails throughout their property and the Savage River State Forest. The diverse loop trails offer hours of enjoyment and opportunities to enjoy nature at its finest. The Savage River Lodge's location is unique, as we are within driving distance to the three highest points in Maryland (Backbone Mountain), West Virginia (Spruce Mountain) and Pennsylvania (Mount Davis), all of which have a great system of trails. Our guest services representatives can provide more information on exploring these trails.
